Writing a Novel

It all started November 2012.  I'm perusing Facebook when I come across a friend's post containing the word NaNoWriMo.
NaNoWriMo?  What is this thing, I wondered.  So I looked it up and was instantly thrilled.  I could do this, I thought.  This is what I've been waiting for.
I'd had a story in my head.  A story about a boy with shitty luck who's attempt at suicide backfires horrifically and wonderfully at the same time.
So I started taking notes.  But the days flew too quickly.  I lost steam.  My first clinical semester of nursing school took over life. And I failed my first attempt.

Fast forward to this past November.  My story was practically clawing its way out of my head.  I knew this was gonna be the year I did it.  No excuses.  This was a dream of mine and I wasn't letting anything get in the way.  Not school, not work.  Do I recommend blowing off life to achieve a small dream?  Hell yes!  Life will go on.  You'll catch up.  Just don't expect sleep and you'll be fine.

50,000 words in one month's time with publishing opportunities galore and one unbelievable sense of satisfaction waiting for me at the end?  Sign me up.

So I scrapped everything I had imagined so far and I just wrote.  As often and for as long as I could stare at this screen.  And by 11:49 on November 30th I had done it.

The basic story is the same.  It's a love story, albeit a very heart wrenching one.  But I was amazed at all the crazy things my mind added to it over the course of thirty days.  I didn't know I had it in me.

Now I am faced with the daunting task of editing the 50,000 words I scrambled together.  And believe me when I say I want to claw my eyes out.  But I can't wait until it's done so that I can share it with the world...if anyone buys it that is!

I'm hoping for a summer release, if this doesn't kill me before then!  Wish me luck!

Don't give up on your dreams people.  You'll be amazed by what you're capable of.

Currently I am about two and a half months behind on my Project Life album.
And at the rate I'm going with Christmas preparations I'll be ready around summertime!

There is a good explanation as to why I am so behind though, and it is a very exciting one too.

I spent the entire month of November participating in NaNoWriMo, (that's National Novel Writing Month, for those of you who don't know) and I am proud to announce that I hit the 50,000 word goal!

I am about to begin the editing process and hope to have the as of yet untitled novel self-published soon!

I've got lots of Christmas crafting to do, and of course there is that thing called school everyone insists is so important, so I'll be away for a bit more, but I'm very excited to share all I've been up to as soon as I can!
