Vintage

It all started when I set out on a hunt for some vintage Pyrex for my cousin who has recently started collecting. Exploring local thrift and antique shops and spending hours perusing Pinterest sparked my love of all things vintage kitsch. I'm a particular sucker for pigs, hobnail milk glass, china nurses, and all things cornflower blue- but my wishlist grows every day (much to the moaning and groaning of my dear husband-to-be, mind you)! While I do love authentic vintage, I'm not too good for vintage inspired things too! If it appears to be from a long past decade, I'll most likely love it. I have a special place in my heart for the 40s and 50s, but have pieces in my collection from much later, too. Here you can watch my budding collection bloom! And quite possibly witness which piece finally drives said husband-to-be to off me! Enjoy...

My Vintage Inspired Kitchen

It's not so easy to go vintage in an apartment complex which prides itself on its newly installed modernized countertops and stainless steel appliances! So for me, until we've got a house of our own, it's all about the decor. I love kitschy things, and old dinner/cookware. The actual cooking area of the kitchen is filled with pig utensils and kitchen gadgets, as well as my child-teenagehood collection of piggy banks and figurines. Eventually I'll get a picture up of that area but for now I'd like to showcase my dining area- where I've chosen to concentrate my vintage collection. So without further ado- my tiny kitschy kitchen...

Love my Bailey's winking tea set. The teapot and little man sugar bowl remain on my "need to find" list. I won't give up!

This set of sunflower Pyrex is one of my favorite finds- if only I could figure out how to restore some of its beautiful colors!

Corningware Cornflower Blue
Most of this I got from my mom when I moved out on my own, but I've thrifted a bunch of it too. This is not the entire collection, as I use it everyday to store leftovers and serve dinner. The pig is my absolute favorite piece. I thought for sure I wouldn't ever have it as it's pretty rare, but my mom, aunt, and sister searched and eventually won it on Ebay. I was. so. EXCITED! My second favorite piece is the sweet little teapot- another gift from my awesome family

I'm still lusting after the very rare breadbox and cake tin! As well as the many lids I am missing. Someday perhaps...
